Cat Ackermann
Cat has been playing the piano since 1998. She began learning to play at her father’s church from a young age, and eventually was leading the youth and adult Worship teams. She learned how to sing and harmonize with the other vocalists. Up to this point, Cat had primarily been working on classical piano but in seventh grade, she joined the middle school jazz band and was completely drawn into that style of music.
After attending a Jazz Summer Camp at the University of Denver in 2006, Cat decided to pursue her BM in Jazz and Commercial Studies at DU, studying under Eric Gunnison. Cat has played venues all over Denver, including the Brown Palace, the Hi-Dive, the Bluebird Theatre, the Ogden, the Oriental Theatre, and all of the So-Co bars along Broadway. She was a member of the popular band Petals of Spain until 2010 and is now a member of Roniit, a local dark electro-pop band (http://www.roniit.com/).
Cat is also the lead singer and keyboardist for her band We the Trees and will be coming out with the band’s first EP this fall.
Cat has been a vocal and piano instructor for seven years and continues to thrive on seeing other musicians grow and find their personal voices in music. Cat is a driven and passionate local musician who hopes to continue improving and helping others to learn music for years to come.
